Educators will consider how restorative approaches complement trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practices.

Relational Boundaries and Professionalism in Inclusive Classrooms

This course addresses the delicate balance between authentic relationship-building and professional boundaries in inclusive classrooms. As educators develop strong connections with students—especially those with complex needs or trauma histories—they must also protect their own well-being and uphold ethical standards. Participants will explore how to foster deep trust without over-identification or overextension, and how to model healthy boundaries as part of inclusive, respectful learning environments.

Participants will learn to distinguish between mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention, and explore how mental health intersects with learning, identity, trauma, and systemic inequities. The course emphasizes practical strategies for fostering a mentally healthy classroom climate and for collaborating effectively with families and mental health professionals.

Walking with Families Through Trauma and Complexity

This course focuses on building strong, compassionate partnerships with families navigating trauma, adversity, and complex needs. It explores the systemic and intergenerational nature of trauma, emphasizes cultural humility and nonjudgmental practice, and offers strategies for supporting families without assuming a clinical role. Participants will learn to recognize signs of stress, build relational trust, and co-create pathways for student success that honour each family’s story and strengths.

Sustaining the Work: Well-Being and Resilience in Inclusive Education

This course explores how educators can sustain inclusive practice without burning out. It addresses the emotional labour of inclusion, the toll of advocacy and system gaps, and the importance of boundaries, support networks, and meaningful reflection. Participants will explore personal and collective strategies for resilience, examine workplace wellness through an equity lens, and reframe self-care as an act of stewardship rather than survival.

Belonging Through Change: Supporting Students in Crisis or Transition

Participants will explore inclusive strategies that provide consistency, trust, and relational safety in times of upheaval—whether due to foster care placement, grief, migration, medical issues, or family instability.
