Learning Through Stories and Story Companions

While our courses are designed as cohesive learning journeys, many of the resources within them are also available as stand-alone learning tools.

📚Story Library

Our Story Library includes all of the narrative case studies used throughout The Belonging Centre courses.

Each story is structured in chapters and includes reflection questions at the end of each section. These can be used independently for professional learning communities, leadership reflection, staff meetings, post-secondary coursework, personal study...etc.

Stories are grounded in authentic school and community contexts and reflect the complexity of inclusive education across grade levels and roles.

The Companion Library includes curated documents developed to deepen and extend the stories.

Companions are organized as follows:

Posture Companions: shaping mindset and stance
Interpretation Companions: reframing how we understand learners and systems
Practice Companions: translating belief into action

These resources can support implementation, reflection, and dialogue whether used alongside a course or independently.

Learning Through Living Models

Beyond courses, stories, and companion tools, The Belonging Centre also includes two immersive learning environments: Unity Pathways School Division and Confluence Valley.

These sites function as living models where frameworks, timelines, policies, and system-level thinking are explored in context.

Rather than teaching belonging only through explanation, these environments allow you to see:

How structural, relational, and instructional conditions interact
How systems evolve over time
How policy, leadership, and classroom practice connect
How belonging extends beyond school into community life

Belonging as Theology

For some, belonging is not only a professional pursuit but a spiritual one.

This space invites slower, reflective engagement with belonging as formation, exploring how faith, story, suffering, restoration, and calling shape the work of inclusion.

Here you will find:

This pathway is less structured and more contemplative. It is designed for those who wish to explore belonging not only as practice, but as vocation.

A Note on Theological Grounding...

At present, the theological reflections in this space are grounded in the Christian tradition, which shapes the founding vision of The Belonging Centre.

We recognize that belonging is explored across many spiritual and philosophical traditions. We welcome dialogue and collaboration with those who carry wisdom from other faith traditions and spiritual perspectives and who may wish to help expand this dimension of the Centre over time.

This space is offered in humility, as a starting point, not a finished conversation.

Belonging is not learned only through structured courses or designed case studies. It also grows through shared experience.

Over time, The Belonging Centre will curate and share stories of practice through blog posts, podcasts, interviews, and reflective contributions from educators, leaders, families, and community members.
